We recently completed a renovation for our client’s home situated on beautiful lakefront property. While the setting was stunning, the space needed a major makeover. Our clients came to us dreaming of a home that was family friendly, sophisticated, and contemporary. We transformed the outdated traditional home to a contemporary and fresh retreat.
Here is the kitchen before the renovation.
The kitchen after. We added a second opening into the space to add symmetry and maximize flow. The painted millwork brightens the space while the contrasting walnut adds just the right amount of warmth. The quartzite countertop continues up the wall as the backsplash creating the sophisticated, contemporary look that our client desired.
A shot of the nook before.
And the nook after. The window coverings were updated to showcase the picturesque view and we added sleek, contemporary furniture to elevate the space.
The original living room.
And here are the after shots of the living room. By keeping the millwork details simple and classic we avoided replacing the trim and coffer and integrated the existing details into the new scheme. We painted the coffer white to revitalize the detail and make it feel new again. The contemporary lighting and furniture add a layer of sophistication while the texture, pattern, and sheen of the fabrics add interest.
This is the dining room before. The dark green walls make the space feel dark and dreary.
By simply using a lighter color on the walls the space feels fresh and revitalized. The textured fabric on the dining room chairs adds visual interest to the room and ties all of the finishes together for the perfect finishing touch.
A before and after shot of the office. The new millwork allows everything to be hidden away. The reveals in the paneled walls connect the millwork on all sides of the space and add an extra touch of sophistication.
The master bedroom before.
The new master bedroom. A light, neutral colour palette and textural layers create a serene and luxurious space.
Lastly, a before and after shot of the master ensuite. The new floating vanity and thick countertop adds drama to the space while the light and airy palette is soothing and zen.
The result is a dramatic transformation from outdated to upscale. We hope you love it as much as we do!
